This is a simple and easy to make chutney recipe which is very healthy and tasty. Horse gram is high in proteins and helps to reduce cholesterol. This simple chutney recipe goes well with rice or porridge.
1 cup Horse Gram/Muthira
1 Cup grated coconut
6 or 7 Red chillies
Few curry leaves
Gooseberry size tamarind
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp coconut oil
4-5 tbsp water
Heat a pan and dry roast the washed Horse gram or Muthira until it changes the colour to brown. Then remove from the flame.
Add dry red chillies, shallot, coconut and curry leaves. Roast it for two or three minutes.
Grind the roasted items along with tamarind, salt and water.
It should be ground coarsely and not to a fine paste.
Add coconut oil and serve with rice.
