Pappada vadas are popular evening tea time snack in Kerala which is tasty and easy to make. Pappada vadas are prepared by deep frying pappads dipped in the spicy rice batter. This can be stored in an air tight container for up to a week.
1 cup Raw rice
½ tsp Chilli powder
½ tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
¼ tsp Turmeric powder
¼ tsp Asafoetida powder
1 tsp Black sesame seeds
1 tsp Cumin seeds
Salt to taste
Water as needed
Coconut oil for frying
Soak the raw rice for 3-4 hours in water. Grind it into a fine paste. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder asafetida, sesame seeds, cumin seeds and salt to the batter . Mix well . It should be of dosa batter consistency
The pappadam should be stiff. For this keep it in sunlight for some time or place it in a refrigerator for 20 minutes.
Heat oil in a frying pan and dip each pappadam in the batter and fry them until golden brown.
Drain on kitchen tissues and serve hot with tea or store in air tight container
