Hummus is a Levantine dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. It is popular in the Middle east and Mediterranean region. This hummus recipe replaces traditional tahini with Geek yogurt, making it a good low fat alternative. You can serve hummus as a dip for vegetables or pita bread, spread it on a sandwich or use it to dress a salad. Today I am sharing the hummus recipe with you along with baby carrots and tortilla chips for dipping.
Ingredients
1 cup cooked and skin removed chick peas
2 garlic cloves
3 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoon Olive oil
Salt to taste
ΒΌ cup thick Greek yogurt
Method
In a blender combine chick peas, garlic, lemon juice, yogurt and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Add olive oil and blend well. You can adjust olive oil by adding more to make the hummus thinner if you want or add one tablespoon of water.
Transfer it to a bowl and serve with tortilla chips
