Chana dal sundal is yet another variety of sundal usually prepared as neivedhyam during navaratri festival. Sundal varieties are not only made as Prasad but also made as mid day snacks. Here goes the yummy snack recipe.
1cup chana dal
½ cup grated coconut
2 green chillies chopped
½ tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Urad dal
¼ tsp Turmeric powder
Few curry leaves
A pinch of Hing
Salt to taste
Wash the chana dal and soak for 2 hours
Drain the water and cook the chana dal with salt and turmeric powder in a pressure cooker for one whistle by adding just enough water to submerge the chana dal . Do not over cook the Dal. If the dal has more water, Drain the water and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it splutters add urad dal and sauté for few minutes.
Now add green chillies, Hing and curry leaves and sauté for few more minutes.
Add the tempering to the cooked chana dal and the grated coconut. Mix well.
Remove from fire. The delicious sundal is ready for neivedhyam for navarati as well as for serving.
