Today’s recipe for Navaratri Prasad is Aval Nanachathu or sweet Rice flakes – A mix of rice flakes, coconut and jaggery. This is an easy to make dish and a delicious treat that my mom used to make when we were kids. You can also use white sugar or palm sugar to sweeten the aval. It is also made as an offering in some of the temples. Give a try and enjoy this recipe.
Ingredients
2 cups Aval/poha
1 cup grated coconut
½ cup grated jaggery
½ tsp cardamom powder
3 tbsp warm milk
Method
Combine Poha, grated coconut and jaggery well using your fingers until the poha is soft and wet. If it is dry add 2-3 tbsp warm milk and mix well.
Add cardamom powder and mix well. Cover and keep for twenty minutes.
Enjoy the aval nanachathu with sliced bananas and a cup of tea
