Pulissery is a popular kerala dish. This Pulissery is a combination of coconut, ripe banana and yogurt. You can serve the Nendra pazham pulissery along with steamed rice
Ingredients
2 ripe nendra pazham/plantain
11/2 cup thick curd
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
Salt to taste
To Grind
1 cup grated coconut
½ tsp cumin seed
For seasoning
1tsp oil
½ tsp mustard seed
2 broken dry chillies
¼ tsp fenugreek seeds
Few curry leaves
Method
Peel the plantains and cut into big pieces. Cook it in just enough water with turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt till it is soft
Grind the coconut with cumin seeds into a fine paste
Once the nendra pazham is cooked, add coconut paste with ½ cup of water and bring to a boil.
Whisk curd and add it to the above mixture and mix well. Simmer until it starts foaming up. Let it not boil. Remove from heat
In a small frying pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once it crackles, add fenugreek seeds, red chilli and curry leaves. Pour this over puliserry
Serve Nendra pazham puliserry with rice
