Onion Rava Dosa

Onion Rava dosa, is a thin and crispy crepe made from semolina, rice flour and all purpose flour. Rava dosa is a popular south Indian breakfast recipe. It is very easy dosa recipe . No grinding or fermentation is required and can be prepared instantly in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

½ cup semolina or fine rava

½ cup rice flour

¼ cup maida/all purpose flour

2 chopped green chillies

½ inch finely chopped ginger

1finely chopped onion

1teaspoon crushed  black pepper

½ tsp cumin seeds

2 tblsp chopped coriander leaves

Few chopped curry leaves

Salt as required

Oil as needed

Few broken cashewnut (optional)

Method

Add rava ,rice flour and maida into a large bowl

Add salt and 2 cups of water to it and mix well until there are no lumps

Now add cumin seeds, crushed pepper,  chopped green chilli, chopped ginger, chopped onion ,chopped curry leaves and coriander leaves.  

Mix well. The batter has to be flowing and thin. If the batter looks thick then add more water.

Cover and let the dosa  batter rest for 20 minutes

Heat a dosa tawa  over medium flame. Grease it with a spoon of oil

Stir and mix the batter well before making each dosa

Take a ladle full batter and our in a circular motion starting from edge to the center

Maintain some holes here and there. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon oil around edges of dosa

Cook until it turns light golden brown and crispy . flip it on another side and cook for a minute.

Serve it hot with coconut chutney and sambar
