Chick peas sundal is a south Indian stir fried dish made with chickpeas, spices and grated coconut. It is very easy to prepare and suitable to be served as a snack, starter or accompaniment
Ingredients
1 cup white chickpeas
1 tsp mustard seeds
3 dry red chillies
1 tsp urad dal
1 pinch asafoetida
3 tablespoon fresh grated coconut
few curry leaves
1 tablespoon oil
salt as required
Method
Rinse and soak the chickpeas overnight in water
Drain and pressure cook the chickpeas with salt by adding 3 cups of water
Cook till they are soft. Drain the water and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When the mustard crackles add urad dal cook till urad dal get browned on a low flame
Next add the curry leaves, red chillies and asafoetida and fry for 10 seconds
Now add the cooked chickpeas and saute for 5 minutes
Switch off the flame and add the grated coconut
