Kara seva is a easy snack. Every one will enjoy the peppery flavoured karaseva with a coffee or tea on a rainy day.
Ingredients
1 cup Besan/gram flour
1/2 cup rice flour
1tsp crushed black pepper
Pinch of asafoetida
1tbsp butter
1/2 tsp salt
Water as required
Oil for deep frying
Method
In a mixing bowl add besan, rice flour, pinch of asafoetida, crushed pepper, butter and salt. combine well
Now add water and make a smooth dough
Do not add too much water and do not make it too stiff also
Grease the large holed mould with some oil and stuff dough into it
Heat oil in a kadai. Check this by dropping a pinch of dough in to oil, if it raises to the surface immediately then the oil is ready
Press the kara seva directly in to hot oil . Just press a large circle, do not make layers
Fry in a medium flame till golden brown and flip over and fry the other side
Take it out and drain excess oil in a kitchen towel
Repeat this for the rest of the dough
When it is cool enjoy with hot cofffee or tea
